New Dinosaur found … But, How BIG is it??

October 3, 2008

Ooooh! I’m frustrated and excited all at the same time.

A new dinosaur has been found in the Pipestone Creek bonebed, near Grande Prairie, Northwest Alberta – Canada! It’s called Pachyrhinosaur lakustai.

Look how Cute he is!

The fossils revealed a herd of dinosaurs that perished in a catastrophic event 72.5 million years ago. The animals are characterized by a bony frill on the back of the skull ornamented with smaller horns. They also had large bony structures above their nose and eyes, which lends them their name, Pachyrhinosaurus, or thick-nosed lizard. Researchers believe these structures probably supported horns made of keratin.

Not just one, but an entire bed of fossils were found – male and female / young and old. They are approximately 72 million years old which puts them in the Cretaceous Period. That’s the same time frame that T-Rex was around.

The Pachyrhinosaur lakustai was named after the retired science teacher :-) that found it. —— Al Lakusta.

All very exciting but I have read and re-read the article over and over and I don’t see any mention of how BIG the thing is!!?? Am I missing something? It’s the first thing I want to know!
