Recently I learned That the Texas Boe approved a new set of English standards. Now that doesn’t sound so bad until you realize that the standards they approved of were only presented to the board

a whole hour before they were scheduled to vote on them.
So, in the spirit of Top 10 lists everywhere – I would like to present the …
Top 10 reasons to give Texas back.

#10 – The Texas Board of Education announced in November that it
had made its selections of approved math textbooks for the next
school year, even though the group of chosen books contained a
total of 109,263 errors. (HT-News of the Weird)

#9 – Texas BoE member Barney Maddox.” Dr. Maddox is on record as referring to the theory of evolution as “a myth” and “a fairy tale.” (HT- Dallas News . com)

#8 – “Abstinence Only” sex education. (Texas leads nation in teen birth rate).

#7 – Texas Commission on Environmental Quality spokeswoman Andrea Morrow says C02 is
not a regulated pollutant.
(Texas is the nation’s foremost CO2 emitter If it were a country, it would rank seventh globally.)

#6 – AP English teacher Kaleb Tierce was placed on administrative leave for recommending a book to a student (Child of God) which was listed on the ‘approved list of books’ for AP English.

#5 – No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being.

#5 – do they have an approved list of those Supreme Beings to be acknowledged? Certainly The Noodly One would be in. Diana Ross? SCOTUS? Operating Thetan? Lord Krishna? This might make for a good report, I think I’ll investigate. Discriminating against gods can be tricky business.

Is a teapot a “being”?

3. The Supreme Noodly One - May 25, 2008

I rule. All other gods bow before ME. Personally, I like that beer law, but all the other stuff is iffy.

This list is amusing and horrifying at the same time.

Good article, Miss Stacy. U know, Dave Letterman might be interested in that for his nightly Top Ten List. I’d send it in to him if I was u.

I been thinking about it though, who we gonna give it back to. Those Mexicanos are smarter than you might think. George Bush would get to have another term as El Presidente de México, this time and he and the Texans would lord it over México, and make them be a bunch of vassal states. I think the best we can hope for is to try to get that fence re-routed so they’re on the other side.

That’s OK! If you are not from the US, I can see how it would be difficult to understand.

A.- We “acquired” Texas from Mexico

B.- Texas is a screwed up place because of these examples (plus more) that have been mentioned here.

C.- Let’s just give it back to Mexico because it is so messed up! (JK) :-)
