Southern Baptist preacher Rev. Wiley Drake Prays for Obama’s Death

Drake said on the June 2 Fox News Radio broadcast that he didn’t understand why people were upset with his comments, which were quoted from a webcast of his own daily radio talk show.

“Imprecatory prayer is agreeing with God, and if people don’t like that, they need to talk to God,” Drake told invisible host Alan Colmes. “God said it, I didn’t. I was just agreeing with God.”

What an asshole.

Zing!

Not everyone will understand what is going on here so let me sum up -The DiscoTute illegally filed a false DMCA complaint against a youtuber. As a result – youtube pulled his video. You probably heard about this a week or so ago here. I just thought there might be a few of you that would like to see a 15 yr old get the better of Casey Luskin. :-)

Who must give permission to record a telephone or in-person conversation?

Federal law permits recording telephone calls and in-person conversations with the consent of at least one of the parties. See 18 U.S.C. 2511(2)(d). This is called a “one-party consent” law. Under a one-party consent law, you can record a phone call or conversation so long as you are a party to the conversation. Furthermore, if you are not a party to the conversation, a “one-party consent” law will allow you to record the conversation or phone call so long as your source consents and has full knowledge that the communication will be recorded.

In addition to federal law, thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia have adopted “one-party consent” laws and permit individuals to record phone calls and conversations to which they are a party or when one party to the communication consents. See the State Law: Recording section of this legal guide for information on state wiretapping laws.

A voice of reason at Fox News!? Her name is Liz Trotta.

On Sarah Palin … “the woman is inarticulate, undereducated,” … See for yourself! I may just write a letter to Liz Trotta just to thank her for being sane!

How long before she loses her job?

Parents never called doctor! Grrrrr…!!

Interesting debate on my fb page about faith healing. This is about the couple in Oregon that allowed their 15 month old daughter to die because they were unwilling to take her to see a doctor. Their faith disallows any type of medical attention other than prayer. Feel free to interject!

Stacy (that’s me) – Angry! Grrr- Parents never called doctor.

They had no problem calling a lawyer though.

I can see another side to this. I don’t want the government telling me what medical care I should and shouldn’t have. I don’t have kids, but I geeze, I don’t even want the government telling me what medical care I should or shouldn’t get for my dog so … if I had kids I’m pretty sure I’d be up in arms if the government tried to dictate what I should do as far as my own kids were concerned.

I get it as far as, I think faith healing is about a wacko as it gets, but this crosses that weird fuzzy line between government control and allowing people to live their lives the way they see fit. When kids are involved it’s especially hard, but … would you want the government telling you what you should do with your child? And, if you disagreed with them, would you do it anyway just because it was the law?

I can see this one being a very sticky one for the courts to handle.

It’s murder. (more…)

Genie Scott liked my cartoon!

OK – I’m on the road so this has to be quick. Remember that stick science cartoon contest I entered a little while ago? Well I made the top 10! * unbelievably *

Go check out the winners! The contest even made the front page of the NCSE website – That means I’m famous now. Right? ;-)

Stephen Colbert – 10 hours of Basic Training

He finally made it to Iraq. :-)

On a different note – Tomorrow is the last day of school before summer vacation, which means that I will likely have to spend more time entertaining my family than putting silly videos on “this here blog thingy”.

We will be going to Lacrosse tournaments, the beach, the pool, Disney, Universal, etc… and to Colorado to visit family. :-)

I don’t know if this will be my last post before school starts back up again but I’ll definitely be checking on all of you whenever I get a chance! ;-)

Consider this an “Open Thread” – Send me a note every once in a while.

Have a happy summer – I’ll be back full time in September. :-)

Flight of the bumblebee

I think Pliny’s post the other day inspired me. This is not usually the type of thing I put here on my blog, but it’s awesome – so, here it is.

Sit back and enjoy for a few minutes – the quality of this video is fantastic!
